In the eighth issue of our (irregularly updated) weekly report, we proudly present you with the following news:

  • Guangzhou: With three new members joining the system this month, enthusiasm is high among the media. We have brought you pictures of the new trains and the interiors of the stations as usual.

  • Beijing: Following the Yanfang line, we'll focus on S1 today. In spite of its name it's not really a commuter line and a bit futuristic than usual, that it is a maglev line. (I wonder how our German readers feel about the name)

  • Hefei: It has been a long time since news on our impending line 2 was ever brought in until now. After 5 days the trial operation came to an end yesterday. We’ve received these lovely photos taken from the site. Please view them below:

Excursus: ART, Yibin

On the 5th December , a middle-sized city situated in Sichuan, Yibin, celebrated the inauguration of the city's first urban rail line branded as ART or  Autonomous Rail Rapid Transit ( Wikipedia ),  China's take on the next generation transportation system.  Ever since the completion of the prototype in 2017 and the subsequent construction of a trial line in the very city it was born —— Zhuzhou to be exact —— the project aims to serve as an exemplar to alleviate traffic congestions within a city with a population of roughly 4.5 million. Free trial service had commenced as early as June this year and successfully attracted considerable amounts of passengers. Imagine trolling thorough the city riding one of these "trains". Weekly report issue 3

I present  hereby sincerely  my appologies now that neither Hefei nor Nanjing has released anything about their undergrounds. The only thing I know for sure: neither of them aren't operating today! I will do a follow-up report on the 28th to verify informations that are being spread over my social network. As for the compensations, I hereby share my selected collections of photos with you!
