Weekly report 17

In the 17th issue of our (irregularly updated) weekly report, we proudly present you with the following news:

  • Chengdu: The phase III of line 1 is only left for opening, possibly next week, possibly tomorrow. (In case you still don't know what the phase III is, it is a north extension plus south extension and a branch line) Official photos of the new stations can be seen below:

So everything begins with 2 gifs.
(I find the Chengdu guys really fond of this sort.)

Detail information:

Xibocheng station
Planned as the intersection of four metro lines, the future transportation hub lies in the Tianfu New District on the south section.

A role of escalators meant for great ridership.

The station art features the silk road.

Wuhanlu station
A station on the south section, near the central park.

Its theme: tree fossil and underground oasis.

Guangzhoulu station

Panda is the feature. This city is known for the habitat of pandas.

Kexuecheng station
Terminus of the south section. Meaning: Science city.

So they adopted a futuristic theme to fit to the station name.

Weijianian station:
Terminus of the north section.

Tianfu Park station:

Wugensong station:

Luhu station:

More to know!

Phase III of line 1 consists of a north extension (1 station), a south extension (11 stations) and a branch line (1 station). This will be the third metro line in China to have a branch line by full standards, the first and the second one being Shanghai's line 10 and line 11 (unlike the branch line of Kunming metro line 1 and Suzhou metro line 4 where you have to "transfer" to the branch line). The branch line branches off at Sihe station, making the current southern terminus one part of the branch line. (Phase III is surely a bizarre combination in all ways.) Currently all the preparations are done and the date of opening is awaiting.

Thank you so much for your time with me and see you in the next issue!
