Weekly report 44 (Jiangsu Special)

Welcome to the 44th  issue of our (irregularly updated) weekly report. This is the special edition dedicated to ongoing metro projects in Jiangsu Province, most of them with an estimated opening in Sept/Oct: Suzhou : The orange line 3 is under test runs, most probably opening in December. Test runs are conducted in three phases: phase I lasting from 16th Aug to 15th Sept, phase II from 16th Sept to 16th Oct, and phase III from 17th Oct to the day before official opening, during which operation under different timetables is being simulated. This is also the first line to connect two suburban railway stations, Suzhou New District to Suzhou Industrial Park.                                                                        The official route map. In the 43rd  issue of our (irregularly updated) weekly report, we proudly present you with the following news: Guangzhou : The largest current project under construction. Its name? Line 8 north extension. While it's probably not the longest, it is definitely the most challenging considering all the relocation works involved within the urban area. That's exactly why it is greatly inspiring when the tunnels are announced to be completed, the whole section from Fenghuang Xincun to Jiaoxin. It is further revealed that the two stations with a chance to open this year are Tongfu West and Cultural Park. Rainbow Bridge - Xicun section is severely behind schedule due to pipelines and dense buildings across the area. Shenzhen : The completion of the leading candidate to open next year, line 8 phase I, connected to the system via line 2 phase III (east extension) expected to open at the same time, draws the attension of all Shenzhen citizens as the first line to enter Yantian District,

Breaking News! Line 5 phase II in Shenzhen is officially announced to open on the  28th September ! The first metro section to open over two years!  Line 2 and line 5 form now a de facto closed circle enveloping the city centre. The official route map for the end of this year. Looks like line 5's doing solo this year. I will do a follow-up report later just for sure, but more importantly, to mark out another line on our list!

Weekly report 42

In the 42nd  issue of our (irregularly updated) weekly report,  we proudly present you with the following news: Hohhot : Amidst a vast plain surrounded by continuous mountains lies the city of Hohhot, and also the completed tracks of line 1. While this line has already opened for a free trial service (1 day only) last month, the actual date of opening might be as late as December. Wuxi : Line 3, the longest line yet to come in this indolent city, not opening any lines since 4 years, got its tracks ultimately completed succeeding the tunnels last year. If the city continues to move at this pace, we are ensured to pinpoint the opening next year. Xi'an : The west extension of line 1, project name phase II, is currently under test runs. This 4-station-extension will further expand the domain of the system into the neighbouring city of Xianyang, providing commuting service between the two urbs. Breaking News! I declare hereby that Songjiang tram phase II in Shanghai  is now in service  today ! Due to the recent typhoon, the new lines had to fulfill their duties amongst heavy rain and few passengers, nevertheless on schedule. They also carry the uppermost honour  to be the sole new urban rail lines opening in Shanghai this year!

Breaking News! Songjiang tram phase II in Shanghai is officially announced to open on the  1 0th August ! The following map illustrates the sections covered in phase II: As shown in the map above, the system consisting of one single line up till now will be operated as two separate lines, with a shared section from North Sanxin Road to Jinxi Road. Cross platform interchange (i.e. interchange to the other line in the opposite direction) is only available at Rongle Road/North Xilin Road, Songjiang Sports Center and North Guyang Road. Notifications: As indicated in the map, Chenta Road station and Xinmiaosan Road - Xinqiao Railway Station on T1 is not part of phase II. I will do a follow-up report later just for sure, but more importantly, to mark out another line on our list!

Weekly report 41

In the 41st  issue of our (irregularly updated) weekly report,  we proudly present you with the following news: Chengdu : Ground breaks as the TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) of line 9 slides its way out of the last section of the tunnel. This will be a fully underground driverless metro line, nonetheless reserved for the next year, with the ones for this year being undoubtedly line 5 and line 10 phase II as instructed. Shenyang : A finished metro line with its depot missing —— let line 10 in Shenyang prove to you that's well possible! Despite the tunnel completion well last year, line 10 was forced to be proceeded by line 9 completed at the same time due to the delayed depot. This time, it's all completed and setting off for the opening in May. Jinan : Amongst the general ignorance, R3 in Jinan achieved its integrity —— a fairly progressive move for a starter with only one short commuter rail line situated in the suburbs until four months ago. Reports from the grapevines also
