【速報】広州M14 etc

Breaking News! Line 14 phase I, Line 21 and Guangfo line rest section in Guangzhou are officially announced to open on the  28th December ! While I think there's no need to emphasize, line 14 will be the first metro line in China to introduce an express service. Express train will only stop at Jiahewanggang, Xinhe (cross-platform interchange with the branch line), Conghua Coach Terminal and Dongfeng stations. As there is no precedents I estimate a great confusion among the passengers. Line 21, on the other hand, only opens a tiny section between Zhenlong West and Zengcheng Square, barely providing one interchange at Zhenlong with line 14's branch line. A three-station extension on Guangfo line from Yangang to Lijiao completes the line. I will do a follow-up report tomorrow just for sure , but more importantly, to mark out another line on our list!

Chongqing M5'

An one-station extension will take place on line 5, Chongqing, tomorrow on the 24th December, and this time it's Dashiba. This station, originally meant to open along with the phase I of line 5, encountered some problems during construction and delayed. This will make Dashiba the new southern terminus of line 5. (And exactly on Christmas Eve, hmm...)

In the 37th  issue of our (irregularly updated) weekly report,  we proudly present you with the following news. As this is the last issue before Christmas (and of this year), you know to expect more from me: Chengdu : Now that the line 3 phase II, III are already opened for free trial rides, we, as the witness of the following photos, are already behind time: Overview of the artistic stations. Here are the details (translated from the official account): Shuangliu West station: This station is reminiscent of an airport terminal, which fits its status as the terminus. The statues are merchants who travelled across the country to trade tea. Chengdu was once the center of tea production in China and the first stop for many merchants who played a major role in the flourishment of this city.         2. Shuangliu Square: Chengdu is also famous for its silk. On the following paintings we  can see the whole process from              sericulture to the trading of s

In the 36th  issue of our (irregularly updated) weekly report,  we proudly present you with the following news: Wuhan :  While not surprisingly, line 2 south extension and Zhifang line are now under test runs. In view of the current progress they are most likely to open next year around January, together with Caidian line (line 4 extension) to maintain three new lines opening next year. And some photos for dessert!  In the Tanxinpei Park station. This park is a memorial park of the Peking opera master Tan Xinpei. The wall paintings are a homage to him and his famous works. Zhifang Avenue station. "Zhifang" literally means “paper mill”, hence the process of paper manufacture on the wall. Qinglongshan Ditie Xiaozhen (translated as Qinglongshan Metro Town). As the name indicates, this station serves a residential area with ecological lifestyle as the main theme. Beijing : The sensational news: Yizhuang railway station might finally open this year?

Breaking News! Songjiang trams in Shanghai are officially announced to open on the  26th December ! The system consists of two lines, but only a part of one of them (T2) is opening this time. Free rides are opened on this Thursday and Friday. Here's the route map, with the red line being T1 and the green line (partially covered in purple) being T2. The actual opening section is marked in purple. And, as usual, the pictures that you're waiting for! So this is the official route map. Seems like T2 is to operate as a ring line. The route maps inside the trams, which are pretty similiar to those in metro trains. The route map in one picture. Tram, station with a next train indicator. Indications guiding passengers to metro line 9. Direction indicator. With this tram line joining the system, it's going to be another thrilling year for Shanghai.

In the 35th  issue of our (irregularly updated) weekly report,  we proudly present you with the following news: Qingdao : A major breakthrough on the line 1: the undersea tunnels are completed! As shown below, the route of line 1 takes it across the channel, connecting the two peninsulas that make up this city. I suppose it's the currently longest undersea tunnel for a metro line (and probably forever). Nanning : The small network in this city is expecting an expansion as line 3 joins the other two lines next year. Constructions on line 3 has been completed and the trains are currently under test runs. Zhengzhou : Another completely new line after 2 years, the circular shaped line 5 is already in sight. Its construction has been completed since September and the test runs are to be commenced soon.  That's all for this issue and I truly hope to see you again in the next issue!

Tianjin M1e'

I declare hereby that two new stations on Tianjin's line 1, Shuanglin and Lilou, have opened today on the 3rd December . Is someone arguing that Shuanglin is not a new station? Technically no, but practically yes. As a matter of fact, the original elevated Shuanglin station was abandoned since 28th Dec 2016 as constructions of the east extension began. It is now replaced by an underground one. Why is there only one new station opening while the whole extension is actually completed long ago? This enigma irritates me as well.  (My answer: because this city has nothing else to open next year.) ..... I'm not proud of this city at all.

Guiyang M1'

Breaking News! I declare hereby that the full line 1  in Guiyang  has been in service  since yesterday ! Sorry for the delay. I'm so much obliged to have the honour to mark the line on the list. And, as shown on the map, the "rest section" is actually two sections!
