【後日談】2018①

Welcome to the first issue of our sequel to 2018. I promised before to cherish every moment and reflect on every piece of memory we shared last year. It is basically a belated report on some of the details I didn't manage to cover: Chongqing A video recording people's reactions to the new station Dashiba on line 5 was posted shortly after its opening:

Rep: Shenyang T4, T6

Breaking News! I declare hereby that T4 and T6 in Shenyang are  now in service  today ! T6 operates as of now as a shuttle service between south railway station and Taoxian airport.  The first actual lines opening this year! A surprising start though! * This blog post was supposed to have been posted on the 5th January.

Rep: Jinan R1

Breaking News! I declare hereby that line 1 in Jinan  is now... not in operational service  today ! While I guess many of you guys might be as frustrated as me, the media used an indecent word game, tricking us into believing that this line is fully operational by posting some videos showing passengers in and out of the trains. While the videos are authentic, this mischievous act ignored the fact that this line is only under "test rides", another masterpiece of absurdity that will go on until the 31st of this month. Yet none of the major news agencies has ever mentioned this. So the answer to the question in the title is ...  No! PS: And one more thing: they seem to have finally abandoned this stupid idea to name it R1! * This blog post was supposed to have been posted on the 1st January.

Rep: Weekly report 38

In the 38th  issue of our (irregularly updated) weekly report,  we proudly present you with the following news. Although I said that the last issue would be the last issue of this year, I still decided to add in one special issue on the last day of this year, for you all mean so much to me! So this is how I show my love to you:  Chengdu:  This productive city is bringing new lines forth with all possible effort. Line 5, scheduled to open next year, has already had its tracks completed, not to mention the long-completed line 10 phase II. Zhengzhou : Another circular line is about to appear in this city. Line 5 is currently under test runs and once finished, it will be the second circular metro line to open in one go in China. Shenyang:  Boasting the largest tram network in China, two new lines, T4 and T6, are expanding the network to its biggest. The two new lines are officially announced to open on the 5th January, 2019, hence check my news by then.  I hate to bid farew

Breaking News! I declare hereby that line 13 phase II, III and line 5 south extension in Shanghai  are now in service  today ! So the main achievement of this year is the completion of this two lines.  I'm so much obliged to have the honour to mark the line on the list. * This blog post was supposed to have been posted on the 30th December.

Breaking News! I declare hereby that line 8 phase III, IV and line 6 west extension, as well as the aforementioned stations in Beijing are  now in service  today ! Not very ambitious this year altogether. Let's hope for a better 2019! I'm so much obliged to have the honour to mark the line on the list. * This blog post was supposed to have been posted on the 30th December.

Rep:【速報】北京M8 etc

It had always been the most exciting part of the year: the moment in which new lines opening on the 30th December are announced! And yes, that's what exactly I mean with "had been". This year is just full of disappointments. To begin with, Beijing. 1) New stations: ・Yizhuang Railway station on Yizhuang line (after eight years ...) ・Fatou station on line 7 (with Shuangjing still absent ...) ・Beiyunhe East station on line 6 (with Tongyunmen still absent ...) ・National Art Museum on line 8 (actually an one-station extension) 2) Extensions: ・Line 8: Zhushikou - Yinghai (without Dahongmen). The section between National Art Museum and Zhushikou maybe 2020 (???) ・Line 6: Haidian Wuluju - Jin'anqiao (WITHOUT Pingguoyuan) (???) (・S1: Jin'anqiao - Pingguoyuan maybe 2020) (?????) I'm left speechless. And you? But let's take a look into the stations nevertheless: https://v.qq.com/x/page/s0820euavoq.html * This blog post was supposed to have been

Breaking News! Line 5 south extension and line 13 phase II, III in Shanghai are officially announced to open on the  30th December ! There's basically no more news about line 5 south extension ever since I put it on the list, but here it comes on the last minute, with line 13 opening as scheduled. The route map.  Starting from the 30th December, line 5 will operate as a main line (Xinzhuang - Fengxian Xincheng) and a branch line (Dongchuan Road - Minhang Development Zone). The main line will be run by 6-car trains and the branch line by 4-car trains. A transfer is required at the Dongchuan Road station between the main and the branch line.  As shown on the chart, passengers from the main line (Platform No. 1/2) need to move to Platform No. 3/4 for the branch line and vice versa. I will do a follow-up report by then just for sure , but more importantly, to mark out another line on our list! * This blog post was supposed to have been posted on the 28th

Breaking News! I declare hereby that line 4 and loop line northeast section in Chongqing  are now in service  today ! An enormous excitement this year, delighting us with a phenomenal ring line (only half a ring though), exceeding that of Shanghai or Beijing by far, though not all the stations are ready for passengers. Nevertheless the metro company shed light on a possible opening date of them: Line 4 : Gangcheng (2019.09), Min'an Dadao (interchange with loop line) (2019.01) Loop line: Tianxingqiao (2019.08), Nanqiaosi (2019.04), Danzishi (2019.04), Renji (2019.06), Shanghao (construction not begun), Luojiaba (2019.06),  Min'an Dadao (interchange with line 4) (2019.01) I'm so much obliged to have the honour to mark the line on the list. * This blog post was supposed to have been posted on the 28th December.

Rep: Wuhan ZF line

Breaking News! I declare hereby that Zhifang line in Wuhan  is now in service  today ! This line, formerly also known as line 27, operates reciprocally with line 7, with all trains continuing to travel onto line 7, while bearing a proper name of its own (much like Daxing line and line 4 in Beijing). What surprises us even more than the opening is that they actually invited a whole troupe to perform Tan Xinpei's opera! I'm so much obliged to have the honour to mark the line on the list. * This blog post was supposed to have been posted on the 28th December.

Breaking News! I declare hereby that line 14, line 21 and Guangfo line rest section in Guangzhou  is now in service  today ! An annual celebration and tradition of Guangzhou Metro. Pretty modest this year though (without extravagant decorations in the stations like last year). Jiahewanggang station on line 14. As the solo joint for commuters from the Conghua district, this station is the gate to the center of Canton and its culture, presented here acoustically and visually.  I'm so much obliged to have the honour to mark the line on the list. * This blog post was supposed to have been posted on the 28th December.
