補足②

More details of urban railway lines in Beijing:

While this is not about subway lines, Beijing did open two more lines than the aforementioned subway lines in this year: the so-called suburban railways.

Did it ever occur to you that Beijing has a line S2 long before the opening of S1 today? (For details please visit Wikipedia) But it's true that it is so humble that not even locals know its existence. And again, although both named as a "S-line", S1 and S2 are operated separately by Beijing Subway and Beijing Suburban Railway respectively. So this year, BSR decided to open two more suburban railway lines converted from older rail lines, the Sub-Center line and Huaimi line. They both started operation today.

If you pay yourself a visit to Wikipedia, you'll find more projects with a title S, but it's hard to tell whether they'll ever be put into reality. This is nevertheless a remarkable effort trying to introduce a suburban railway system into Chinese cities, since there had been only little to no other means of urban railway other than subway in China. (The S-lines in Nanjing are essentially "suburban subway") Yet again, daily ridership is strongly doubted, that many of the residents still have no idea about them.

If you have interest in it and don't mind a few hours or a few pounds, please make your contributions to Beijing's BSR lines and share your impression and of course photos with us and we'll wait for the last opening tomorrow together!
